Instructions

 

  1. Fill in the answers by selecting one of the drop-down options of "Not true," "Somewhat true" or "Very true."
  2. Each option comes with a number.  When you have finished filling out the questionnaire, use those numbers to calculate your total and list it at the bottom of the Questionnaire.
  3. Submit the form and one of our health coaches will score your test for you, sending you an explanation of your results and how likely you are to be experiencing adrenal burnout along with some suggestions on how to deal with it at home.
  4. Note that the only way to be sure if you are in adrenal burnout is through lab testing, which we can do here in our office.  Individuals with high pain tolerance are oftentimes likely to be in fatigue long before they experience any symptoms.  If you show signs of likely being in adrenal burnout or have a high pain tolerance and would like to make sure you aren't just missing the signs, contact our office to schedule a visit.

A Brief Explanation of Adrenal Burnout

Your adrenal glands produce your stress hormones or “adrenaline,” the main one being cortisol. Cortisol is released in response to stress.  It gives your body a surge of energy to help you respond properly. Stress can come in many forms. 

  • Physical stress - Such as an injury or accident. 
  • Emotional stress - such as a demanding career, the birth of a new baby, or the death of a loved one.  
  • Environmental stress - Such as pollution, pesticides, or carcinogens.  

There are also hidden forms of stress such as inflammation or infections in the gastrointestinal system and food allergies.  

Whatever the form of the stress, the adrenal glands are the first to react.  If there is a period of prolonged stress, eventually the adrenal glands burn out and are no longer able to produce the amount of cortisol that is required by the body.  At this point you may begin to experience symptoms such as fatigue, insomnia, weight gain, irritability and an inability to cope with stress.
